Web server application mappings

Application mappings instruct your web server to pass certain file types to a particular program or module before returning any HTML to the user's browser. In this way, application mappings ensure that server-side scripts and other special files are processed correctly.

Crystal Enterprise relies upon four application mappings—one for each Crystal Enterprise file type. Through these application mappings, you instruct the web server to pass all .csp, .rpt, .cwr, and .cri requests to the Web Connector. The Web Connector then forwards the request to the Web Component Server, which communicates with the rest of Crystal Enterprise (as required) and generates the resultant HTML page.
