APS InfoStore

The APS InfoStore is used to store each InfoObject, as well as most of the information needed by the Crystal Enterprise system to run.

Note:    In the case of reports, only the InfoObjects representing the reports in the system are stored in the InfoStore. The actual report files (.rpt) are stored in the File Repository Server (FRS).

The APS InfoStore can use a variety of different native databases for persistent storage, including Oracle, ODBC, DB2, and so on. However, the only manner in which you should access the information in the InfoStore is by using the Crystal Enterprise SQL-like query language and its InfoStore.Query method. Accessing the APS information by other means is not advised, as it may cause your system to stop functioning properly.

In Crystal Enterprise 8.5, you can use the Crystal Enterprise SQL-like query language to query for objects in the following APS InfoStore categories:

• CI_INFOOBJECTS

  This category contains all objects that pertain to user activities. This includes, but is not limited to, reports, instances, folders, shortcuts, and so on. It is for general use.

• CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS

  This category contains all objects that define the Crystal Enterprise system. This includes, but is not limited to, users, groups, servers, events, and so on. It is mostly for administrative use.
