NewPassword Property

Sets a new password without requiring an old password. Write-Only.

Remarks

This property is Write-Only: you cannot retrieve a user's existing password. The password can consist of any Unicode characters.

If the user logs on to the system with Enterprise authentication, then password restrictions, such as the maximum length of the password string, are determined by the properties in the Crystal Enterprise secEnterprise PlugIn Library. Password restrictions for third-party accounts are set through your external systems.

Once a new password has been set, you can specify a number of password options:

• Allow the user to change the password with the AllowChangePassword Property.
• Force the user to change the password at the next logon using the ChangePasswordAtNextLogon Property.
• Specify whether or not the password will expire with the PasswordExpires Property.
• Use the ChangePassword Method to change a password if you want to use the current password as confirmation of the user's authenticity.

If no password is set, this property will default to an empty string.

Note:    You must have modify rights either by setting the role or by adding the security rights.
