The following is a short description of each section in this guide.

Welcome

This section introduces you to the Crystal Enterprise Software Development Kit (SDK) and provides you with an overview of the tools and components you need to create an enterprise-class web application.

Architecture

This section provides a high-level overview of the Crystal Enterprise architectural framework, and describes how information in the system is stored, retrieved, and manipulated.

Getting Started Tutorial (JavaScript)

This JavaScript tutorial consists of a set of lessons that teach you how to develop a web application using the Crystal Enterprise Software Development Kit (SDK). If followed sequentially, these lessons will result in a simple, yet functional, client desktop.

How To (JavaScript)

The How To section includes a number of tutorials that focus on specific client and administrative tasks—tasks that are not covered in the Getting Started Tutorial (JavaScript).

Getting Started Tutorial (VBScript)

This VBScript tutorial consists of a set of lessons that teach you how to develop a web application using the Crystal Enterprise Software Development Kit (SDK). If followed sequentially, these lessons will result in a simple, yet functional, client desktop.

How To (VBScript)

The How To section includes a number of tutorials that focus on specific client and administrative tasks—tasks that are not covered in the Getting Started Tutorial (VBScript).

Crystal Enterprise Web Wizard

This section explains how to use the Crystal Enterprise Web Wizard to develop a web application. It also provides information on system requirements and the application development environment.

Understanding ePortfolio

This section introduces you to ePortfolio, the web desktop that is included with Crystal Enterprise. It provides a site diagram of ePortfolio and explains how the desktop's multiple CSP pages and JavaScript files interact.

Report Viewer Reference

In addition to teaching you how to specify and configure a Report Viewer, this section gives examples of the Web Component Server commands that can be appended to URL requests, and shows you how these URL requests can control users' access to report information.

Processing Extension API Reference

The Processing Extension API allows you to write your own report processing extension. A processing extension is a plug-in DLL (on a Windows system) or shared library (on a UNIX system) that is able to manipulate a report when a request is made to view or schedule that report.

CSP Reference

This section describes the objects, properties, and methods that are available to you when writing any CSP script.

Query Language Reference

This section provides a reference to the Crystal Enterprise query language. It introduces you to the Crystal Enterprise query language syntax, offers tips on query optimization, and provides information on all of the query language properties.

SDK Reference

This section presents a full view of the COM object model used by the Crystal Enterprise SDK. It presents detailed information about the objects, properties, and methods in the main libraries within the Crystal Enterprise Framework. As well, it provides a reference to the available Desktop, Authorization, Administration, and Destination plugins.
